Brian is a passionate and engaged educator with experience teaching in a wide variety of settings – private lessons, chamber music coaching, master classes, and directing large ensembles. He currently serves as Instructor of Saxophone and Jazz Studies at East Tennessee State University, and on summer faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and maintains a home studio of select students.
His teaching is catered to students’ individual needs, heavily emphasizing the development and refinement of fundamental skills that will aid the student in accomplishing their musical goals. Topics addressed in lessons can include: tailoring a fundamentals routine, etudes, solo repertoire, and jazz theory and improvisation.
